Barclays: Increase in Mortgage Lending

Barclays Bank has announced that new Mortgages rose to £17.2bn in 2011, a rise from 2010's figure of £16.9bn. Mortgages from Barclays totalled £107.8bn on 31st December 2011 up from 2010's £101.2bn with a share by value on 9 percent, representing a 1 percent increase on last year's figure.

Mortgage lending from Barclays equates to a marrket share by value of 12 percent, which is a fall over last year, which came in at 13 percent. Barclays' mortgage lending fall was indicative of the Bank's overall performance, with profits falling some 3 percent tro £5.9bn. However, average mortgages balances from Barclays bucked the trend, with a 6 percent increase throughout the year.
