Buy to Let Mortgages on the Rise
Figures released by the Council of Mortgages shows that buy to let mortgages rose 32 percent in 2011 compared to 2010 with a total of 124,000 buy to let mortgages sold.
The Council of Mortgages indicated that 66,460 of these buy to let mortgages were for purchases, and the remainder were remortgages.
Buy to let mortgages are responsible for 10 percent of 2011's total mortgage lending, a rise of 2.5 percent over 2010's figure. It has been predicted that buy to let mortgages will carry on increasing throughout 2012 with predictions showing a mortgage lending rise to £16bn this year.
