Mortgage Applications Rise
Mortgage applications are on the rise, according to new figures released in the latest national mortgage index from the Mortgage Advice Bureau. The figures indicate that mortgage applications in January 2012 were some 25.8 percent higher than January 2011 with high loan to value deals such as 90 percent mortgages and 85 percent mortgages being greatly responsible for the increase.
90 percent mortgages and similar mortgage products being made available resulted in the average deposit being reduced in seven out of 10 regions. The increase was also due in part to the stamp duty concession for first time buyers ending in March 2012, with people aiming to have their mortgage secured before the end of the offer.
